I have been a practising psychotherapist since 1989.   I was a school teacher, and lecturer in further and adult education for 16 years.  In the early to mid eighties I discovered complementary therapies and trained in hands-on healing and therapeutic massage; in 1987 I left my full-time work to set up my own practice, and have been working for myself ever since.  I still love to teach and lead workshops. In addition to the Cert Ed, I hold the City & Guilds Assessor Award.

The process of facilitating the flowering of another's development is a sacred task for me. and this is reflected in all my work with individuals and groups.    I am a Spectrum accredited, UKCP Registered Humanistic Psychotherapist and a member of the Association for Therapeutic Healers.   For ten years I was a co-principal of the highly regarded Rowan School for Healing and Personal Growth.

I am particularly interested in the impact of post traumatic stress, and in addition to my professional training as a humanistic therapist I have trained in Somatic Trauma Therapy with internationally acclaimed therapist and author, Babett Rothschild; in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), and in Deep Memory Process with Roger Woolger.   In addition I have studied EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and am always interested in furthering my own skills and development for my own personal satisfaction, as well as adding to my professional "toolkit" which enables me to take a very broad view in my work with clients. I have recently been looking at a very effective way of combining EFT and EMDR with Dr Daniel Benor's WHEE process.

I am in touch with colleagues from a range of therapeutic discipliens all over the UK who provide a sounding board for my professional development and integrity; in addition I receive regular professional supervision for my work with clients.

At a personal level I was widowed young and brought up my daughter for eight years on my own, before marrying again in my late forties.  Now I am enjoying grannydom, as well as running my business in Scotland.

I moved to Scotland in April 2002, and enjoy living in our beautiful house which overlooks woodland to the rear; at the front there are views across the rooftops of Balloch village to the Moray Firth and the Black Isle beyond.  I love being able to get out into the beautiful landscapes of the Highlands, and enjoy networking and making new friends, as well as connecting with colleagues from a range of backgrounds.

Most of the time I meet with clients at my home in which I have a dedicated workspace where I am able to meet clients confidentally and undisturbed.  I continue to commute to London for one week a month where I maintain a client base.

My leisure interests include walking, embroidery and sewing, gardening and reading, and spending time with family and friends.  Recently I have  been discovering the pleasures of beading, making necklaces for myself and friends, and rediscovering the joys of crochet.  Lots of fun!
